When is the best time to take the photos at the hospital?
Hospital baby photography is usually done within day or two of your baby being born.
When will you come to see us?
Usually within two or three days of your baby’s birth. Some hospitals only have 2 day maternity stay. As such, the sooner you let me know that your bub has arrived the better are the chances that I will see you in the hospital.
What if I get discharged from the hospital before the photography session?
In that instance, do not worry your photography session will still take place. We will arrange for it to be done in your home once you are all settled in. Where we can do a lovely relaxed in home session in that first or second week after bub has arrived.
Please note that this would generally only happen if you are birthing at a public hospital, and you deliver your baby on a Friday night (we will not be able to see you until Monday morning).
Visiting hours at the hospital are between 3pm-8pm will you come then?
My hospital photography hours are between 10am-2pm and I can be photographing up to three babies in different hospitals all across Sydney.
Please note that visiting hours are allocated for convenience of your family and friends. You don’t want to have your family visit you at the hospital and have to wait an hour before they can see you and your new baby, because you are having baby photography done.
Sometimes visitors come in large groups, you don’t want to have six visitors in the room while we are photographing your baby! It is a very special moment in your baby’s life that is reserved for you, your partner and your other children.
What happens if I or my baby are unwell?
If either of you are unwell, we understand that it is more important for you get well. Once you are well, we can set a definite photography date.

If your baby has already arrived we can still do photograph your baby, regardless of their age.
With older newborns you are feeling more confident as a new mother, this extra time has helped you to settle into motherhood, you know your baby so much more, how he or she responds to your voice and looks at you and perhaps even smiling.
Don’t let people tell you that your baby is too old for newborn photos, you love your baby more every single day that passes, so don’t let those moments slip by!

When is the best time to take the photos?
We recommend that you book your maternity photography session for 32 – 36 weeks along! If you leave it later than 37 weeks, we cannot guarantee that your session will take place, as you will be considered full term and could deliver your baby before your scheduled photography session date.
What should I wear?
Keep it simple and natural, choose something you love to wear that looks incredible on you. Booking in advance allows you to go shopping and figure out your wardrobe well before your maternity photography session.
Where and when do your maternity sessions take place?
Maternity sessions take place at sunset in a park or at the beach.
Should I get my hair and make up done?
That is entirely up to you. Keep in mind that if we are having a beach photography shoot, it may be windy so be aware of that when having your hair styled down.

When is the best time to do newborn photographs at home?
Anytime after you come back home from the hospital. We do recommend that you book your photography session for the second week after baby’s birth. This allows you to time settle in at home with a newborn and your partner is still on parental leave.
What if my baby is older than two weeks?
That is totally fine, we photograph newborn babies of any age. If your partner cannot be there for the photography session we will focus on you, your baby and sibling photographs.
Can we have photos done in a studio?
We offer an in studio styled newborn photos with a beautiful simplistic backdrop and fluffy shaggy rug in our Baby Art Collection. Please note: these sessions are midweek sessions only!
Do you use props?
At Brand New Baby, we focus on what is meaningful to you, which is your baby perfect as they are. We aim to create timeless images for your family capturing you family as they are. As such we do not use baskets or bowls. However, if you have an heirloom blanket or a handmade toy we would gladly photograph your baby with those items because they are important to you.
